Yancey Odom
Meet Coach Yancey Odom
Hello! I am Coach Yancey Odom. At Marshall Academy, I serve as an Upper School Social Studies Teacher and Head Defensive Line Coach for our football program. I am grateful for the opportunity to invest in the lives of our students both in the classroom and on the athletic field.
My Education and Experience
I graduated from Canton Academy before earning an Associate of Arts degree from Holmes Community College. I later completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Recreation and Administration at the University of Mississippi.
My professional background is rooted in coaching high school football, strength and conditioning, and athlete development. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about helping young people develop confidence, discipline, and leadership while reaching their full potential as students and athletes.
At Marshall Academy, I enjoy combining my love of history with my passion for coaching, encouraging students to excel academically while developing the character and work ethic that will serve them throughout life.
My Teaching Philosophy
I believe strong relationships are the foundation of effective teaching and coaching. My goal is to create an environment where students feel supported, challenged, and encouraged to grow both academically and personally.
Whether I am teaching Social Studies or coaching football, I strive to emphasize discipline, accountability, perseverance, and respect. These qualities not only help students succeed in school and athletics but also prepare them to become responsible leaders in their communities.
My Life Outside of School
Outside of school, my life is centered around faith, family, and personal growth. I believe there is always an opportunity to learn, improve, and become a better leader, mentor, and role model for the students I serve.
When I have free time, I enjoy fishing, staying active, watching football, spending time outdoors, and making memories with family and friends.

If you have questions about my classes or our football program, please feel free to contact me through the Marshall Academy office at 662-252-3449 or by email.
I look forward to partnering with our students and families as we work together to help every Patriot succeed in the classroom, in competition, and in life.
