Meet Mrs. Pooja Desai

High School Science Teacher

Welcome to Marshall Academy! I am Pooja Desai, and I am honored to teach Chemistry, Physics, and Human Anatomy & Physiology I and II to our 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students.

My Background and Experience

I was born and raised in Navsari, India—a town very similar in spirit to Holly Springs. After moving to the United States, I lived in North Carolina before making Holly Springs my permanent home in 2016. My connection to the Marshall Academy family began in 2017 when my son graduated from MA, and I have been a proud part of this community ever since.

I earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from VNSGU University in Surat, India. My career in education spans over a decade, including more than 10 years teaching high school Mathematics and Science in India. Since moving to Mississippi, I have completed supplemental coursework in Chemistry, Algebra, and Human Anatomy at Northwest Community College and served as an Algebra I teacher at Holly Springs High School.

My Educational Vision

I believe that every student has the capacity to excel. As an educator, my goal is to help students build their proficiency by promoting curiosity and critical thinking. By fostering these skills in the classroom, we prepare our students to become successful, productive citizens of their community.

My Life Outside of School

When I am not in the lab or the classroom, cooking and family are at the center of my life. I live in Holly Springs with my husband, while my son lives and works nearby in Olive Branch. I am a passionate cook and enjoy whipping up new dishes and developing original recipes every day; I even take on professional cooking projects from time to time!

In my downtime, I also enjoy:

• Nature: Spending time outdoors and appreciating the natural world.
• Travel: I love taking long-distance drives to explore new scenery.
• Family: Cherishing time spent with my husband and son.
