Meet Mrs. Susan Minor

4K Teacher

Welcome to 4K! I am Susan Minor, and I am honored to be a part of the Marshall Academy elementary faculty. Marshall Academy has been my home for over 34 years, beginning when my own children were students here, and I am just as passionate today about serving our school family as I was then.

My Background and Experience

Driven by a lifelong passion for teaching, I earned my Early Childhood Education Certificate to provide the best possible start for our youngest learners. I have spent many rewarding years as a 4K teacher right here at MA, where I have had the privilege of watching generations of students grow from their first steps on campus to their high school graduation.

My Educational Vision

I believe that early childhood education lays the foundation for a child’s lifelong love of learning. In our classroom, we strive to create an engaging environment where every child feels confident and excited to explore.

My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that children learn best through play, exploration, and meaningful interactions. We encourage curiosity through hands-on activities and guided discovery, recognizing that every child learns at their own pace and in their own unique way. Social and emotional development is at the heart of everything we do; we focus on teaching kindness, cooperation, and emotional awareness to help children build strong relationships and self-confidence.

My Life Outside of School

Family is at the center of my life. I am married to my husband, Richard, and we are the proud parents of two children and grandparents to three wonderful grandchildren (plus one beloved grand-dog!).

My family loves any activity as long as we are together. When I am not at the school, you can usually find me:

• Grandparent Adventures: Spending my extra time swimming, exploring new parks, or visiting the Memphis Zoo with my grandchildren.
• Traveling: My favorite hobby is traveling with my family and exploring both new destinations and old favorites.
• Community: Enjoying the deep roots and friendships I’ve built over three decades in the Holly Springs and MA community.
