Mrs. Linda McKinney
Meet Mrs. Linda McKinney
Guidance Counselor
Welcome to Marshall Academy! I am Linda McKinney, and it is a privilege to serve as your School Counselor. I have been a part of the MA family for 32 years, and I am dedicated to supporting our students as they navigate their academic and personal journeys.
My Background and Experience
My roots at Marshall Academy run deep. I spent 25 years in the classroom teaching a variety of subjects, including Social Studies, English, and Spanish. For the past 6 years, I have transitioned into my role as the School Counselor, where I can support our students' needs across all grade levels.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in History with minors in English and Spanish from the University of Mississippi. Additionally, I earned my Master of Arts in Education from the University of Phoenix.
My Educational Vision
As a school counselor, I believe every student is known, valued, and capable of growth. In our close-knit setting of approximately 350 students, I view my role as deeply relational. I strive to build meaningful connections with each student and family while supporting academic success, social-emotional well-being, and character development. My goal is for every student to feel encouraged to reach their absolute highest potential.
My Life Outside of School
Family is at the center of my life. I have been married to my husband, Paul McKinney (MA Class of 1987), for 34 years. We have two children who are also MA alumni: Boyce (Class of 2017) and Sonni (Class of 2020), who currently serves as our 1st-grade teacher. Our "empty-nest" household is completed by our 4-year-old German Shepherd, Ellie, whom we love and adore.
When I’m not at school, I enjoy:
- Traveling: I love visiting the beach and Walt Disney World.
- Reading: I am an avid reader of romance, rom-coms, mysteries, and historical fiction.
- DIY Projects: I love taking on new projects around my house.
Contact Me
My door is always open to students, parents, and faculty. If you have any questions, concerns, or if there is ever anything I can do to support your family’s experience at Marshall Academy, please do not hesitate to reach out. You can contact me through the school office.
