About Our Program The Marshall Academy Golf team is open to student-athletes in grades 7 through 12. Golf is a unique sport that challenges players both physically and mentally, requiring patience, strategy, and self-discipline. We are incredibly fortunate to hold our team practices at the beautiful Kirkwood National Golf Course right here in Holly Springs, providing our players with a premier, championship-level facility to hone their skills.

Our Dedicated Coach Our program is proudly led by Coach Gary Hickman. Coach Hickman brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep appreciation for the game of golf to our team. He is dedicated to working with each player individually, helping them refine their mechanics, understand course management, and build the confidence needed to succeed in tournament play.

Program Goals In MA Golf, we strive to develop well-rounded athletes who respect the traditions of the game. Our core goals include:

  • Skill Development: Mastering the fundamentals of the golf swing, including driving, iron play, chipping, and putting.

  • Course Management: Teaching players how to think strategically on the course, read the greens, and make smart decisions under pressure.

  • Mental Toughness: Helping students develop the focus, patience, and emotional control required to bounce back from a bad shot and stay positive.

  • Golf Etiquette & Sportsmanship: Upholding the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and respect for the course and fellow competitors, which are the true hallmarks of the game.
